Join DJ Jah Karma for a Nice Time at the Volstead early evening of funky global beats: reggae, afrobeat, Brazilian, Latin, Afro-House, and global disco sounds.
A member of Boom Sumting! Sound System in Austin, TX, DJ Jah Karma brings the funky global beats wherever he goes. He held a weekly residency at Vivo Cocina on the East side for nine years and is a member of the Lava Lounge DJ collective from Flipside. Tribeza magazine commented that “the bar area at Vivo was hopping to the international funk sounds of DJ Jah Karma.” Jah Karma has played all over the country, including SXSW, Art Outside, Euphoria Festival, Burning Man, and Levitation Festival. He has supported a broad range of bands, including Lee Scratch Perry, Bunny Wailer, Rebelution, Jesse Royal, The Wailers, Soja, Quantic, Zion-I, Giant Panda Gorilla Dub Squad, Nappy Riddem, Orgone, Brownout, Cilantro Boombox, Superfonicos, Golden Dawn Arkestra, Imarhan, Riders Against the Storm, Atash, Martin Perna (Antibalas) and Afrolicious (Bay Area). He was also the resident DJ at the SXSW Registrant’s Lounge. Boom! DJ Jah Karma will take you on a musical voyage from Austin to San Francisco, Africa to the Balkans, Colombia to Jamaica.
